The name Toast & Dragon is a personal reference and a way for Denise Fenoglio, Toast & Dragon’s founder and designer, to
invoke the memory of her beloved, Italian immigrant grandparents. In particular,
her Nona imparted a love of food, travel, family, tradition and the beauty of creating
with your hands and heart. Denise has sustained this organic sensibility in all
aspects of her life – and in none more so than the beautiful jewelry she designs.
Philosophy
Denise shares her joy in the beauty
of the natural world through her unique jewelry interpretations.
About the Artist
Denise's love of nature and the organic riches of the earth were fostered
by childhood summers in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There, she became
a close observer of nature’s design: structure, color, texture and purpose. After
graduating from Purdue University, she spent three years living in France, richly
nourishing her love of language, history, food and art. Her sense of style and design
were heavily influenced by her travels throughout the Middle East and Europe. Denise
took her love of jewelry design and metalsmithing to professional level, graduating
from the renowned North Bennett Street School in Jewelry Fabrication. Located in
the historic North End of Boston, the school began training craftspeople in 1885
and continues to train some of the finest artisans working today. Denise currently
lives in the Boston area with her three sons.
Materials Used
Life experience and excellent training have fueled Denise's craftsmanship
of unique, fine jewelry that is timeless in its appeal. Chosen personally from ethical,
trustworthy and environmentally sound sources, the precious and semi-precious stones
that Denise uses are natural and non-enhanced. The pieces Denise creates find life
around the stone, letting the beauty of the gemstone guide the creation. Her sense
of design and structure is reflected in the rare and precious objects she uses to
create these esthetic, one-of-a-kind treasures.
